Equine Influenza
Equine influenza is a highly contagious viral respiratory disease affecting horses, donkeys, and mules. Caused by strains of the influenza A virus, it spreads rapidly through airborne droplets and contaminated surfaces. Common symptoms include fever, coughing, nasal discharge, lethargy, and loss of appetite.
Although rarely fatal, equine influenza can significantly impact performance and recovery time, especially in competitive and working horses. Vaccination and biosecurity measures are critical in preventing outbreaks, which can disrupt equine operations and events.
